ABOUT OUR TRAINING FACILITY THE REDEMPTION STORY

First, racing motocross as a British Champion and then competing at the National Championships in Olympic Weightlifting, Josh Cooper suffered what would become a career-ending injury in training while preparing for the New Zealand Olympic Weightlifting National Championships. He made aspirations of making it back to compete, but had no place to truly train. No place that would allow him to recover and optimise his performance. 

At the time, most places were set-up towards a traditional corporate gym that left no hunger for training at the standard of an elite athlete, let alone any type of guided coaching or workout opportunities. While interning at the Taranaki Bulls, Josh realised there was no place to train as if he did at a British Weightlifting facility with the best coaching, equipment, workout programmes and culture. 

It was this simple realisation that Josh started the Redemption journey. What began in 2019, training members in an empty shed, evolved into training in a facility that has produced some of the best athletes in New Plymouth. 

The base of this success is Josh’s passion for coaching, training, motivation and the strong team around him.

OUR GROUP TRAINING PROGRAMME

At Redemption, we believe in training the entire body as a single unit to produce optimal human performance. Nothing sexy, no fads, we use trusted and proven training methods that have been around for decades, producing some of the world’s best athletes. We then take those programmes and have delivered them in age-appropriate group training. 

Nothing at Redemption is random. Each workout has been specifically created, following a 6-8 week training cycle that is meticulously planned and backed by sports science. 

At the soul of one of our 60-minute workouts is our C.A.R.E Training System, where all our bespoke workouts follow a specific progression of:

  • Dynamic Warm-Up
  • Performance Primer
  • Strength/Conditioning Training
  • Core
  • Cool Down

OUR GYM AS A MEMBER

At our training facility, you train your body for optimum performance. We are not like ordinary gyms, we offer the tools and resources needed for you to reach – admire – and then exceed your goals.

  •  Specialised Facility
Our Redemption training facility has been turned into a speed factory. We offer layered turf and customised equipment that is found in High Performance Sports Facilities. 
 
  •  Sports Science Backing
Redemption’s C.A.R.E Training System is designed by a professional strength and conditioning coach and is updated every 6-8 weeks. Redemption then layers skills training on top of the workout to create a programme for anyone who is serious about reaching a goal. 
 
  •  Periodised Programming
Our personalised training programmes are designed around the concept of linear periodisation, which means each week builds on the previous one to achieve targeted, accountable goals. 

MEMBERSHIPS

Redemption Strength and Conditioning is a membership-based training facility. We offer memberships that encourage goal-setting in an environment that promotes achievement, all at a competitive price.
