JOSH COOPER

COACH

Josh Cooper is a powerlifter and coach based out of New Plymouth, NZ.

Josh started his sporting career in motocross at the age of 12. He represented himself at a schoolboy national level and has had a successful career in the AMCA. He is a former AMCA expert class and AMCA 2-stroke championship rider.

In 2009, Josh studied BSc Sports Psychology and Coaching Sciences at Bournemouth University where he continued to race competitively. It was at University Josh found weightlifting.

For the last decade, Josh has combined both his formal education and his firsthand experience to help coach sport athletes both at the national and international level. Helping individuals build confidence in themselves by growing stronger, transforming their bodies, and improving their overall health and well being.

Josh currently competes in the IPF National Championship in the 83kg class.

In 2018/19, I had the pleasure to assist Charlotte with her conditioning training while she swam for the AquaBlacks. Charlotte was a 10km open water swimmer and represented herself at the 15th, 17th and 2019 FINA world championships.

2019 premier champions.

In 2019, I was appointed as the strength coach for Spotswood United Rugby Football Club and trainer for the premier side. The Premier side won their first Championship Title, beating Coastal 18 – 13 at Yarrows Stadium.
